"Leading collaborations in pursuit of solving large problems isn't a hobby or personal goal, it is who I am, why I breathe, what I dream about, what I have been called to do." --Terri Jaggers
Every aspect of Terri's life is intricately woven together in one identity and purpose. Servant leadership. No matter what roles or responsibilities she has in front of her as a former licensed caregiver (foster, kinship and adoptive parent), a former national level athletic coach, a community leader, or as a Professor at Sam Houston State University, God has entrusted in her a heart to lead through serving others.
In these positions of servant leadership, she has had the privilege of being a part of some of Texas’ “best practices” in foster care, competitive sports and education:
- The formation of Orphan/Foster Care Solutions of Texas is a collaborative non-profit that works to bridge the needs of the foster care system to the talents/gifts of the faith based community. Thousands of foster children and families, as well as organizations within the foster care community have received direct benefits, assistance, and education, through this effort. (Benefiting organizations include: Texas DFPS, dozens of Child Placing Agencies, county Child Protective Services, and many non-profit foster care support organizations including RTCs, Texas CASA). If you want to know more about her leadership in this effort or its outcomes, please go to the website www.OrphanCareSolutions.com
- The development and opening of Hope’s Path. An innovative program for foster alumni. This internship program offers residence, soft/hard personal skill development, Christian mentoring teams, educational/vocation support alongside apprenticeships to enable successful, sustainable independence. To learn more about this program, go to our website www.HopesPath.org.
- Collaboration of 30+ Texas Colleges/Universities known as Texas REACH that continue to have annual convenings addressing the growing focus on foster care aging out, college readiness and systems of support within our education system.
- As the owner and Head Coach, Northwest All-Star Gymnastics, Cheerleading & Dance provided recreational and competitive programs as well as summer camps, “Early Readers” and homeschooling curriculum. Each athlete received positive individual value, progressive soft and hard skills that not only delivered outstanding athletic champions but prepared and empowered business, medical, and community leaders.
In addition, Terri has extensive experience in motivational and public speaking with a wide range of topics suitable for workshops/conferences, for educators, business leaders, athletes, parents and foster care audiences.
Finally, among the many honors and accomplishments attributed to Terri, she is describes her most valued as "I am most proud of the love that exists between my husband Pat and I. Through 32 years of marriage, life has attempted to ravaged our home, family, health and security; however, together we have known no greater healing or security than our love for one another."
