Terri Jaggers has always had a heart for foster children and has dedicated her life to helping them reach their fullest potential. Her implantation of National Adoption Day, the creation of Hope's Path, contribution to the Sam Houston State University organization Pay-It-Forward, along with other achievements have helped her accomplish this goal.
Pay-It-Forward, a student organization where Terri is the creator and faculty advisor, even allows for college students to get involved and play a part in helping foster children and youth. She also teaches seminars and holds training sessions where she is able to discuss various topics. For instance, she has showed college youth how to refine their elevator speeches and has even discussed the importance of reaching out to foster youth since it is needed for the community to get involved.
Terri Jaggers is the acting President and Chairman of the Board for both the Montgomery County Chid Welfare and Child Protective Services boards. Her appointment by the Commissioner’s Court in January 2009 was a natural fit for Terri after 25 years of business success and service as a community organizer, former foster parent, state and national board member, public speaker, Communications Director, and 15 years as a legislative advocate for foster care issues. Terri was recently nominated to the Texas Woman’s Hall of Fame by Governor Rick Perry for her leadership in community collaborations. Terri is married to Pat Jaggers and in her leisure time is an Adjunct Professor at Sam Houston State University in Communication Studies, Faculty Advisor for Pay it Forward, and is a Justice on the Supreme Court for SHSU’s Student Government Association.
